ENHANCED SAFEGUARDING


By talking to senior leaders and DSLs, we understand the vital role teachers play in safeguarding pupils and how this can be adversely affected by remote teaching. MyEd Open School includes several unique features to help schools fulfil their safeguarding responsibility, no matter what the circumstances. 

  1. Our unique pupil view makes video lessons safer and less distracting by only showing the pupil their own image and that of their teacher. Pupils enjoy the feeling of an individual lesson, while families benefit from greater privacy. Teachers can view all pupils in their home environments, retaining an overview of pupil welfare even when teaching remotely.
  2. Whether used at home or in school, access to MyEd Open School is via a single secure sign-on, so there’s no need to generate, distribute or keep track of multiple passwords. This significantly reduces the burden on teachers and parents/carers and allows pupils of any age to access MyEd Open School safely and independently.
  3. With MyEd Open School, you can view attendance, engagement (participation) and attainment over different time periods, making it easy to see when a pupil needs extra attention or support. To aid in safeguarding, the system tracks and analyses each pupil’s unique patterns across the three areas and alerts you whenever there is a significant change, helping you to spot differences you may wish to follow up.

Now everyone can join in live video lessons with our unique Pupil View, where pupils see only themselves and their teacher – protecting everyone’s privacy and minimising distraction for young learners.

SUPPORTING ALL LEARNERS 


Our research with teachers showed that supporting pupils of different abilities was one of their biggest challenges, so we designed a platform and suite of tools to cater for all kinds of learners:

Teaching via video

  1. During remote live lessons, pupils can use simple buttons to confidentially show their teacher that they understand (‘Thumbs Up’), ask a question (‘Raise Hand’), or indicate they need further explanation (‘Don’t Understand’).
  2. Teachers can give instant reactions, such as a virtual thumbs up or fist bump, to motivate and reward pupils during online classes, keeping even the youngest pupils engaged.

Lessons & Homework

  1. Create differentiated groups of pupils and assign appropriate recorded lessons and homework.
  2. Introduce lessons or homework with an audio recording, making it easier for younger children, or those with SEND to understand what to do. Especially useful as an alternative to text for general or personalised feedback, too.
  3. Checklists attached to lessons and homework assignments make it easy to keep track of what needs to be done, so pupils don’t get overwhelmed.
  4. Every lesson and homework assignment becomes part of a pupil’s personal archive, enabling missed lessons to be accessed later and trickier concepts to be reviewed multiple times if necessary – great for pupils who need more time with topics.

Motivating Pupils

  1. Staying engaged and completing work earns pupils reward points which they can use to customise their avatar. This gamification of learning motivates and encourages even the most reluctant learners.
  2. An overview of each pupil’s engagement and attainment, now and over time, makes it easy to reinforce positive patterns with praise, or identify when a pupil needs more support – especially helpful for parents and carers supporting at home.

RESOURCE FINDER


Harness the power of video as a teaching aid. Our Resource Finder allows parents and teachers to find high-quality, respected learning content quickly and easily.

Search by Key Stage, topic/focus, keywords etc, or simply enter your child’s age and interests. Either way, you’ll be able to choose from three sets of results: 

  1. A ‘trusted-source search’ lets you select content from pre-defined providers, such as BBC Bitesize, Ted-Ed, Twinkl, National Geographic Kids, National Theatre, Oxford Online English and much more. There’s no need to weed out questionable results as you search – all content providers have been chosen based on their reputation for producing high-quality learning materials.
  2. A ‘free search’ lets you search for content as you normally would in your chosen search engine. The results are unrestricted (under-18) and you can review and attach any resource(s) to your lesson. 
  3. Finally, a ‘recommended content search’ serves you content based on your search terms and key information from your lesson planning template, combined with crowd-sourced opinion based on how, and how often, teachers use the learning resources in question. Driven by AI (Artificial Intelligence) and Machine Learning technology, this unique tool improves every time it’s used.
